About Aalto University Thin Films PhD Studentship

Aalto University Thin Films PhD Studentship supports a doctoral researcher (PhD student) position in thin films for electrocatalysis at Aalto University, focusing on thin film electrocatalysts, atomic layer deposition and electrochemical characterisation. The role combines synthesis, characterisation and electrochemical testing aimed at hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions for AEM electrolyzers. The scholarship is offered by Aalto University, School of Chemical Engineering, within the Atomic Scale Processing group (Prof. Miika Mattinen) in the Department of Chemistry and Materials Science. The position is part of the ThinCat Academy Research Fellowship project and connects to wider departmental ALD and electrochemistry activities.

Aalto University Thin Films PhD Studentship Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, (Materials) Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience in experimental laboratory research.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an international research environment.
  • Strong academic writing and verbal communication skills in English.
