About AFD Research Projects on Adaptation in the Mediterranean Region

The AdaptAction programme is inviting research project proposals that support climate adaptation in the Mediterranean region.The call aims to generate practical knowledge that can improve adaptation policies, projects, and decision-making in countries facing climate risks.Research should connect climate knowledge with public action, local needs, institutional realities, and the experiences of vulnerable communities.

Benefits of AFD Research Projects on Adaptation in the Mediterranean Region

• The total budget available for this call is €310,000 excluding taxes and will make it possible to finance a maximum of three action research projects. The maximum amount per project is €160,000 excluding taxes.

AFD Research Projects on Adaptation in the Mediterranean Region Requirements

Projects must be implemented by a research institute or consortium that meets the following two criteria :

• A university or national research centre from at least one of the eight AdaptAction countries in the region ;
• A university, a research centre or a researcher with proven international credentials (publication of rang1, reference in one of the IPCC groups, etc.)

Eligible structures as team members : local or international NGOs, think tanks, consultancy firms with research and development activities, or individual consultants, are eligible, provided that the scientific and operational governance of the project is clearly defined.
