About Alberta Foundation for the Arts - Film and Video Individual Project Funding
This grant programme is designed to strengthen Alberta’s film and video arts sector by supporting both emerging and established creators. It encourages artistic innovation, skill development, and the production and dissemination of new audiovisual works.The funding can be used across the full creative cycle, from concept development to distribution and promotion.

- Maximum funding available: Up to $18,000 per project
Alberta Foundation for the Arts - Film and Video Individual Project Funding Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following conditions:
- Be a resident of Alberta
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Person with a valid open work or study permit in Canada
- Have maintained primary residence in Alberta for at least one full year prior to applying
- Normally reside in Alberta for at least six months per year (except during formal studies)
- Be in good standing with the Alberta Foundation for the Arts
- Have no outstanding reporting obligations with AFA
Additional requirements:
- Applicants must not be incorporated under provincial or federal legislation
- Ensembles and collectives are eligible if all co-applicants meet eligibility criteria
The programme encourages applications from:
- Indigenous artists
- Racialized communities
- Women
- People with disabilities
- 2SLGBTQIA+ communities
