Opportunity Details
The Georg Forster Postdoctoral Research Fellowship 2025–2026, is a fully funded program offered by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany. It supports postdoctoral and experienced researchers from developing and emerging countries.The fellowship is designed for research projects that contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Monthly stipend:
€2,700 for postdocs
€3,200 for experienced researchers.

Travel expenses
Research cost subsidies for hosts.
Personal support:
Flexible start date
Intensive German language course (for fellows and partners)
Access to alumni programs.
Applicants must be from developing or emerging countries (excluding PR China and India).
Must have completed a doctorate:
Postdocs: within the last 4 years
Experienced researchers: within the last 12 years.
Must have lived or worked in a developing/transition country for at least 12 of the last 18 months.
Requires above-average qualifications and research relevant to the applicant’s region of origin.
Good knowledge of English or German (depending on discipline).
Must provide two expert reviews (doctoral supervisor + external researcher for postdocs).
