About Allan Gray Makers Startup Academy Programme

The Allan Gray Makers StartUp Academy 2026 is an 8-month incubation programme.
It’s designed to provide entrepreneurship training and comprehensive support to aspiring artisan entrepreneurs aiming to establish new businesses in the bricklaying, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing trades.

Benefits of Allan Gray Makers Startup Academy Programme

  • Participants will receive a transport allowance of R3,000 per month to help cover costs associated with attending the programme.

Allan Gray Makers Startup Academy Programme Requirements

  • Age: 18-35
  • Relevant trade: Bricklaying/Carpentry/Electrical/Plumbing
  • Unemployed or self-employed (not studying full-time)
  • Qualified bricklayer, carpenter, electrician or plumber with a trade test
  • OR, have 3 years work experience in the relevant trade and are ready to take the trade test
  • OR, N2 Certificate and 3 years work experience in either the bricklaying, carpentry, electrical or plumbing trade

Application Date and Process

  • N2 Certificate/National Technical Diploma/ Trade Test if applicable
  • Proof of work experience/Service letters
  • National Senior Certificate (is advantageous)
  • Certified Copy of ID
