African Youth Ambassadors for Peace (AYAP) – 4th Cohort Call for Applications is an African Union (AU) initiative under the Youth for Peace (Africa) Program (Y4P), launched in 2018. The program seeks to empower African youth to actively participate in peace and security efforts across the continent.
Professional & Leadership Growth
Regional Representation: You’ll serve as a recognized youth leader in your region, working directly with the AU Political Affairs, Peace and Security Department (PAPS).
Leadership Development: Gain hands-on experience in advocacy, mediation, and multi-stakeholder dialogue facilitation.
Visibility & Recognition: Your work will be acknowledged at continental and international levels, enhancing your profile as a peacebuilder.
Networking & Collaboration
Work with AU Youth Envoy: Collaborate closely with the AU Youth Envoy and other AYAPs across Africa.
Access to AU Platforms: Participate in AU meetings, trainings, and workshops, representing youth voices in peace and security.
Partnership Opportunities: Build connections with governments, civil society, and international organizations engaged in peace processes.
Advocacy & Impact
Policy Influence: Contribute to shaping youth-related peace and security policies through the Continental Framework on Youth, Peace, and Security (CFYPS).
Community Impact: Implement regional youth activities that promote peace, security, and inclusion.
Voice for Youth: Champion the rights of young people, including marginalized groups such as displaced persons and persons with disabilities.
Career Advancement
Skill Development: Strengthen communication, advocacy, and resource mobilization skills.
Experience in Peace Processes: Gain practical exposure to peacebuilding initiatives, mediation, and conflict resolution.

Open to African youth aged 18–35.
Must hold at least a bachelor’s degree and have 2+ years of experience in peace and security.
Demonstrated ability in advocacy, resource mobilization, and peace processes (dialogues, mediation).
Strong community track record and communication skills.
Fluency in at least one AU working language (English, French, Arabic, Portuguese, Swahili, Spanish); knowledge of more is an asset.
