The African Human Rights Spoken Word Contest is a creative initiative by the African Secretariat of the International Human Rights Art Movement (IHRAM). With purpose to amplify voices across Africa using spoken word poetry as a tool for human rights advocacy and encourages artists to address urgent issues like: Social justice,Climate change,Women’s empowerment,Immigration,Police brutality,Gender inequality,Child labor and marriage,LGBT rights and more

Winning entries will be showcased at the International Human Rights Art Festival in New York City (December 8–14, 2025).

Record a 1-minute video of yourself performing an original spoken word poem.

Must be filmed in landscape mode, with no background noise, no other people, and no added graphics or captions.
