About ANU Australian CIW Visiting Fellowship Program
As the hub for Chinese studies at ANU, the Australian Centre on China in the World (CIW) facilitates cross-campus, national, and international research and teaching collaborations to promote greater understanding of the Chinese world — the People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, and the Chinese diaspora. CIW is the place to come to understand China and the Chinese world. The CIW Visiting Fellowship Program brings leading researchers to the ANU campus to conduct and share research that promotes the study of the Chinese world.
Benefits of ANU Australian CIW Visiting Fellowship Program
Each Visiting Fellow will be provided with:
- Funding towards the costs of the most direct economy-class travel to and accommodation in Canberra
- An ANU office space with computer and printing facilities;
- ANU Library borrowing privileges;
- Access to ANU facilities and events.
CIW will assist with making travel arrangements. Visitors will require additional funding from other sources to cover their living expenses. Please note that funding cannot be used to support family members and dependents who are travelling with the Visiting Fellow.
Visitors will be provided with office space, computing/internet services, and limited administrative support.
ANU Australian CIW Visiting Fellowship Program Requirements
- Applicants must have at least a higher degree (PhD) or equivalent professional experience, research and publications.
- Institutional affiliation to a University or equivalent research or cultural organisation is required.
- Fellowships are open to Australian (non-ANU) and international researchers.
- ANU values equity and diversity and is committed to ensuring equal opportunity for all.
- This fellowship is not available to independent scholars or to students who are working to complete their higher degree.
Application Date and Process
Applications must include:
- the visitor's curriculum vitae (<2 pages);
- a statement, written by the applicant, regarding the purpose and period of the visit, the research and other activities to be undertaken during the visit, and the resulting benefits to CIW and ANU, and the potential research outputs achieved as a result of the fellowship. (<2 pages);
- a letter of support (using this letter template) by the ANU expert sponsoring the visit (<1 page); and
- Please ensure that all documents are submitted by the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
