About National Taiwan Library Fellowship

The National Taiwan Library (NTL) is offering a Fully Funded Fellowship for 3 to 6 Months to International Visiting Scholars to conduct Research at the National Taiwan Library (NTL).The objective of this fellowship is to invite scholars from foreign countries and universities to conduct research primarily within the fields of the humanities and social sciences. The research topics must be limited to Taiwan Studies or Southeast Asian Studies. The aim is to enhance academic exchange and collaboration with global institutions.

Benefits of National Taiwan Library Fellowship

the Fellowship includes as follows:

  • Airfare Subsidy:
    • One economy-class round-trip ticket, based on the most direct route to Taiwan, will be reimbursed at actual cost for the awarded scholar.
    • The maximum airfare subsidy is as follows:
      • From Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia: New Taiwan Dollars (NTD) 35,000.
      • From other regions: NTD 60,000.
  •  Monthly Research Grant:
    • Awardees with a doctoral degree will receive a monthly grant of NTD 60,000.
    • Awardees without a doctoral degree will receive a monthly grant of NTD 40,000.

National Taiwan Library Fellowship Requirements

 Applicants must satisfy one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Individuals currently holding positions in relevant departments of foreign universities, including professors, associate professors, assistant professors, lecturers, or postdoctoral researchers; doctoral candidates, or Ph.D. students; or library personnel and researchers of equivalent rank at related academic institutions.
  • Individuals not covered under the preceding category who are recommended by an institution with which the Library has signed an international academic cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) and whose research topics align with the subject areas specified in Item II.
