The Richard Rooney Postdoctoral Fellowship seeks to support outstanding early-career scholars whose work contributes to advancing knowledge and understanding of African societies, cultures, histories, and contemporary issues.

Applications are open to both domestic and international candidates.
To qualify, applicants must:
- Have completed or expect to complete a PhD degree between June 30, 2022, and June 30, 2026

- Be eligible to begin a postdoctoral appointment at the University of Toronto by November 1, 2026
