SIRF is a four-month research fellowship focused on solar PV materials science, device physics, manufacturing systems, and data-driven optimization.
Structured technical mentorship and weekly cohort sessions.
Introductions to manufacturers and partner testing opportunities.
Practical training that prepares work for production readiness.
Access to a growing alumni network linking researchers with industry and funders.
Open to graduates (master’s level preferred), engineers, or technically focused innovators.
Must be based in Africa or working on African solar manufacturing challenges.
Skills in physics, materials science, electrical/electronic/mechanical/manufacturing engineering, or data science are preferred.
Commitment to the full program (starting April 3, 2026) and proficiency in English required.
Selection Criteria
Technical fit and ability to deliver the proposed project.
Clear, feasible one-page project brief with measurable outputs.
Potential for manufacturing impact (reducing cost, improving yield, or raising quality).
Collaboration potential and commitment to local impact.
