About UNESCO Juan Bosch Prize
The UNESCO–Juan Bosch Prize for the Promotion of Social Science Research in Latin America and the Caribbean honors young researchers (under 40) who have made notable contributions to social science research and social development policy in Latin America and the Caribbean.

- The laureate of the 2026 edition will receive a total award of USD 12,000.
UNESCO Juan Bosch Prize Requirements
- To qualitfy as a candidate the proposed individual must be under 40 years old and their social science research work must address themes related to the Latin America and Caribbean region.
- The nationality of the candidate is not a factor.
Application Date and Process
- Nominations may be submitted in English, French or Spanish by the governments of Member States and in consultation with their National Commissions, as well as by non-governmental organizations maintaining official relations with UNESCO and active in a field covered by the Prize. A self-nomination cannot be considered.
- To qualify as a candidate, the proposed individuals must be under than 40 years old, and their social science research work must address themes related to the Latin America and Caribbean region. The nationality of the candidate is not a factor.
Each nomination shall be accompanied by a written recommendation, which shall include, in English or French, inter alia:
- a description of the candidate’s background and achievements;
- a summary of the work or the results of the work, publications and other supporting documents of major importance, submitted for consideration;
- a statement specifying the candidate’s contribution to the Prize’s objectives.
The deadline for nominations, submitted through your National Commission and not on an individual basis, must be sent by email no later than 15 February 2026 at midnight (GMT+1, Paris time).
