The World Habitat Awards are an internationally recognized program that celebrates innovative, sustainable, and impactful housing solutions. The awards focus on projects that improve living conditions, strengthen communities, and address pressing global challenges such as housing shortages and climate resilience. Established to promote best practices in housing, the awards highlight real-world solutions that can be replicated or adapted in different contexts worldwide.
Winning a World Habitat Award provides international visibility and acts as a mark of recognition that a housing solution is innovative, exceptional and exciting. This year we will be presenting Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards to the most outstanding projects and programmes.

The awards are open to a wide range of actors involved in housing solutions.
Eligible applicants include:
Individuals or community groups
Non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
Public sector institutions and local authorities
Private sector initiatives and social enterprises
Academic institutions and research-led projects
United Nations programmes and affiliated entities
There are no geographical restrictions. Applications are welcome from any country or region.
Project Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the World Habitat Awards, projects must meet the following conditions:
The project must be directly related to housing
The initiative must be ongoing or completed within the last ten years
The ten-year timeframe is measured from the call closing date: 2 March 2026
The project must demonstrate innovation, effectiveness, and positive impact
The solution should have potential for replication or scaling in other contexts
Applications must not be submitted as grant or funding requests
Identify a qualifying housing project that meets the eligibility criteria
Prepare a clear description of the project’s objectives, activities, and outcomes
Highlight innovation, sustainability, and community impact
Demonstrate evidence of effectiveness and long-term benefits
Submit the application before the closing date of 2 March 2026
