Canon Collins Trust - Kader Asmal Fellowship Programme Requirements
- Only South African residents are eligible for this fellowship.
- Applicant must possess an accredited bachelor’s degree by 2015 or later.
- Applicant must own a strong academic record or a minimum GPA of about 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicant must have at least two years of significant, directly applicable work experience.
- Applicant must not already hold a master’s degree or other advanced degree.
- Applicant must not be pursuing a master’s degree or other advanced degree at this time.
- Applicant must be eligible to start a new master’s program in Ireland starting in August 2027 or later.
- Choose three programs that fit their academic and professional background.
- Show leadership qualities and a dedication to the advancement of South Africa.
- Candidates with a lower second-class bachelor’s degree might still be taken into consideration if they have substantial and immediately applicable work experience.
- Irish universities demand evidence of English language competency.
Application Date and Process
- The Kader Asmal Fellowship 2027 Stage 1 application period began on June 29, 2026, and will end on July 26, 2026.
- The detailed Stage 2 application must be completed by applicants who made it through the preliminary round between September 21 and October 18, 2026.
- Successful fellows will be ready to start their studies in Ireland for the 2027–2028 academic year after passing English language tests and interviews later in the selection process.
