About Carlsberg Foundation Internationalisation Fellowships
The Carlsberg Foundation offers two to three-year postdoctoral fellowships for research at international research institutions and a Danish, Greenlandic, or Faroese research institution. These fellowships aim to promote the internationalisation of talented young researchers from Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands.
Benefits of Carlsberg Foundation Internationalisation Fellowships
- The Carlsberg Foundation covers the fellow’s full salary and operating expenses of DKK 8,000 per month.
- The operating expenses are at the postdoctoral fellow’s disposal to cover conferences, study trips, etc. and cannot be used to cover overhead costs, administration fees, or other costs to be covered by the project supplement.
- For the project period abroad, the applicant may apply for an additional amount of DKK 50,000 per year when traveling with a partner, or an additional amount of DKK 100,000 per year when traveling with child(ren).
Carlsberg Foundation Internationalisation Fellowships Requirements
- Applicants must have obtained a PhD degree, or alternatively, expect to obtain the PhD degree before the start date of the grant period. The PhD degree must have been obtained from a Danish, Greenlandic, or Faroese research institution.
- Applicants are not eligible if they have already been affiliated with one or more international research institutions outside Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands for 12 months or more after obtaining their PhD.
- Applicants are not eligible to apply if they have obtained their PhD degree more than three years prior to the application deadline.
- Any periods of leave will be accepted as extensions of this time limit (parental leave, family care leave, illness, military service, etc.).
In addition to having obtained their PhD at a Danish, Greenlandic, or Faroese research institution, the applicant must have demonstrated a strong connection to Danish, Greenlandic, or Faroese research, for example:
- subsequently have been employed at a Danish, Greenlandic, or Faroese research institution; or
- through personal or family relations be strongly connected to Danish, Greenlandic, or Faroese research; or
- possess so strong and demonstrated ties to Danish, Greenlandic, or Faroese research that even if the applicant moves abroad during the entire project period, the applicant intends to return to Danish, Greenlandic, or Faroese research upon the completion of their stay.
The applicant will be expected to take up residence in the country where the international research institution(s) is located.
