About CIVICUS Digital Action Lab
The Digital Action Lab is a 9-month, cohort-based programme that supports civil society organisations from application to impact.The Digital Action Lab supports civil society organisations to strengthen their ability to use digital tools for democratic action through a structured yet flexible approach that combines learning, practice, and collaboration.
Benefits of CIVICUS Digital Action Lab
- By participating in the Digital Action Lab (DAL), you can benefit from enhancing your organisation's impact on inclusive democracy and civic space.
- The program offers a structured format, including virtual workshops, localized gatherings, and at least one in-person workshop, providing opportunities for meaningful engagement and community building. You will also have the chance to participate in an Achievement Summit, a culminating event where organizations share the results of their initiatives with the cohort and other stakeholders, enhancing visibility and networking opportunities.
- Financial support is provided through project grants ranging from $10,000 to $30,000 USD, facilitating the implementation of your DAL initiatives. This support is crucial for developing, implementing, and evaluating a funded roadmap that utilizes new digital approaches to strengthen or scale a priority activity. Additionally, the program offers engagement opportunities with wider networks, such as I4C, Vuka!, RightsCon, etc., further expanding your organization's reach.
- Overall, the DAL program offers a unique opportunity for Global South-based civil society organizations and social movement actors to access resources, expert support, and peer learning, enabling you to navigate and leverage new technology and digital approaches for the advancement of inclusive democracy and civic space.
CIVICUS Digital Action Lab Requirements
- Applicants must be based in OECD DAC ODA-eligible countries
- Preference for organisations in obstructed or repressed civic space contexts
- Local offices of Global North-based organisations are not eligible
- Civil society organisations (formal or informal), networks, movements, and coalitions
- Individual activists formally affiliated with a civil society organisation
- Priority to underrepresented and marginalised actors, including women, youth, LGBTQI+, Indigenous Peoples, and grassroots groups
- Active work on democracy and/or civic space issues
- Some experience using digital tools in advocacy, organising, or service delivery
- Ability to manage grant funding and commit staff time for the 9-month programme
- Ability to work and submit deliverables in English
