Climate & Clean Air Coalition is currently accepting applications for its National SLCP Planning, Monitoring and Reporting System 2026. Interested applicants are encouraged to click here to learn more about this opportunity and apply for it.
The funding opportunity supports projects that strengthen South Africa’s national systems for monitoring, reporting, and managing Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (SLCPs). These pollutants, including methane, black carbon, hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), and tropospheric ozone precursors, have a significant impact on climate change and air quality despite remaining in the atmosphere for relatively short periods.
The initiative seeks to institutionalise a national coordination mechanism and integrate SLCP reporting into existing environmental and climate reporting systems rather than creating separate reporting structures.
The project aligns with South Africa’s climate commitments and supports improved transparency under national and international climate reporting obligations.
