About Community Foundation for Staffordshire & Shropshire Lead the Change Grant Programme

Lead the Change is a three-year funding initiative designed to empower young people to actively shape stronger, safer, and more connected communities across the United Kingdom.Launched by BBC Children in Need in partnership with major foundations, the programme addresses rising concerns around youth disconnection, lack of representation, and exposure to harmful online content.

  • Awards – £123,353 per organisation – Organisations must be able to demonstrate capacity to deliver a large scale project

Community Foundation for Staffordshire & Shropshire Lead the Change Grant Programme Requirements

Who We Are Able to Support 

Registered not‑for‑profit organisations, which must be one of:

  • Charitable Incorporated Organisation
  • Community Interest Company (CIC) limited by guarantee
  • Company limited by guarantee (with clause in governing document preventing distribution of profit)
  • Registered charity

Lead the Change is open to registered not‑for‑profit organisations in the UK (in Tamworth) that: 

  • Have an annual turnover of no more than £2m, unless you are a domestic abuse refuge or hospice
  • Have at least three trustees/members of the governing body
  • Deliver work in one of the 27 target places
  • Work with children and young people aged 18 years and under
  • Work in the heart of their communities and are trusted by young people
  • Work in and are based in Tamworth
  • Put the voices, experiences and skills of children and young people at the centre of everything they do, from design to delivery 
  • Can demonstrate strong safeguarding and trauma‑informed practice 
  • Are keen to keep learning about and developing their work with children and young people 
  • Have at least three unrelated board/governing body members
