The GHA-SciEx Fellowship is part of the broader CoRE-GHA Scientific Exchange Programme, which promotes collaboration between African and European research institutions. The programme supports short-term research visits of up to 90 days, offering hands-on training and capacity-building opportunities in advanced scientific fields.Through a strategic partnership with the African STARS Fellowship, the initiative aims to strengthen research capacity in genomics, diagnostics, and broader health systems across Africa.
Master’s or PhD degree holders in the sciences—particularly in genomics, biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or related fields—are eligible to apply. Ideal candidates are those looking to enrich their research with new data, acquire advanced technological skills, and who are highly motivated to undertake research stays abroad.
Only highly motivated candidates with a well-defined, feasible research objective and support of a host group and institution before applying for this scheme. Applications lacking a clear commitment from a host institution and group leader/principal investigator to host the applicant, shall not be considered.
Selection is based on the applicant’s motivation, the clarity and relevance of the proposed research project, and the quality of the submitted documentation. Final approval is granted by the CoRE-GHA Education Committee.
