About DAAD Postgraduate Scholarships in Performing Arts in Germany

Applicants of DAAD Postgraduate Studies Scholarships will benefit from the following items:
- A monthly allowance of 992 euros
- Travel allowance
- One-off study payment
- Health, accident, and personal liability insurance payments
Under certain conditions, scholarship holders may receive the following additional benefits:
- Monthly rent subsidy
- Monthly stipend for accompanying members of the family
- Subsidy for extra costs that result from the disability or chronic illness that is not available from other funding providers
- Green Mobility Top Up or partial compensation of carbon offset payments for air travel (Support for climate-friendly travel)
Applicants who are required to improve their language skills for their stay in Germany will receive the following DAAD offers:
- Online language course fees after receipt of the Scholarship Award Letter
- Suppose a German language course of 2, 4, or 6 months is necessary before the study visit in Germany. In that case, the DAAD office determines whether to fund the student and for how long, based on the student’s German language proficiency and the project.
- Payment for a personally selected German language course throughout the scholarship period
- TestDaF or DSH test fee payment, which the applicant can take either in their home country after they have received their Scholarship Award Letter or in Germany during their scholarship period
- All applicants should note that the DAAD scholarship does not cover tuition fees
DAAD Postgraduate Scholarships in Performing Arts in Germany Requirements
All applicants should confirm that they meet the following conditions:
Applicants can hold the nationality of any country to apply for this scholarship
- They must have recently gained a first university degree in the performing Arts
- Candidates should typically have graduated within the past six years of the application deadline.
- A prerequisite for the funding in this scheme is a full-time and full-attendance study.
- Extra-occupational or part-time study programs, as well as those with a significant e-learning component, are not eligible.
- If you had been a resident of Germany for more than 15 months at the time of the application deadline, your application may not be successful.
- Candidates should provide proof of English or German language proficiency, e.g., DSH or TestDaF, for courses taught in the German language (at least B2, usually C1, or equivalent TOEFL or IELTS certificates). Please ask your desired university for the required minimum score.
