About DESY Summer Student Program
Each summer DESY offers undergraduate students in physics or related disciplines (such as scientific computing and engineering) the opportunity to obtain first-hand research experience at a large international laboratory.

Benefits of DESY Summer Student Program
- Applicants will receive a salary of approximately 28.50 euro per day, along with partial travel reimbursement.
- Free accommodation at the DESY hostel.
- They will get the chance to engage in practical, hands-on research activities across various scientific fields pursued at DESY.
- Throughout the duration of the internship program in Germany, students will work in various teams and explore projects in photon science, elementary particle physics, accelerators and astroparticle physics.
- Similarly, applicants will collaborate with scientists who are experts in their respective fields, receiving mentorship and guidance.
- Applicants will attend a series of lectures conducted in English, tailored to the key topics of DESY research, enhancing their academic knowledge.

- After the completion of the summer internship in Germany, the successful participants will get a certificate.
DESY Summer Student Program Requirements
- Applicants must have completed at least three years of full-time university-level studies in physics, related natural science disciplines, or computing by the summer of 2026.
- The DESY Paid Summer Student program 2026 is open for undergraduate/bachelor’s students about to obtain their bachelor’s degree as well as those holding a bachelor’s degree and currently pursuing a master’s degree.
- Applicants who have already completed a Master’s degree or will do so by the summer of 2026 are not eligible for the program.
- Previous participants in DESY Summer Student Program cannot apply again.
- Moreover, the majority of projects offered are designed for physics students, and applicants should be aware of this focus.
- Applicants for the DESY internship program need to be enrolled at their university for the entire program duration. Complying with German employment law for paid internships.
- All applicants must have a good working knowledge of English and possess basic computing skills to be eligible for the DESY Traineeship 2026 in Germany.
- Similarly, successful candidates must commit to the entire duration of the 2025 DESY summer program, from 21 July to 10 September 2026.
