About EJN - Media Workshop on Biodiversity in Montenegro
The Earth Journalism Network is inviting applications for a fully funded workshop designed to support journalists from the Western Balkans in reporting on biodiversity and environmental protection.The programme aims to improve public understanding of nature, conservation challenges, environmental policy, and biodiversity protection across the region.Selected journalists will take part in thematic and skills-based training sessions, engage with experts and communities, and participate in a field visit to a relevant biodiversity or conservation site.

- Hear from experts on the links between biodiversity and climate change and health
- Learn about the use and effectiveness of different conservation methods
- Become familiar with benefit-sharing from digital sequence information and its possibilities and risks
- Understand the use of technologies such as satellite imagery and artificial intelligence to track threats to biodiversity and monitor biodiversity protection measures
- Understand best practices and journalistic techniques for covering biodiversity, including how to use collaborative reporting to widen reach and impact of stories
- Receive guidance on where to find appropriate and relevant data, and sources
EJN - Media Workshop on Biodiversity in Montenegro Requirements
- Applicants can be from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo.
- Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio) and other media practitioners with experience covering these issues.
- They welcome applications from freelance reporters and staff from all types of media organizations—community-based, local, national and international.
- They especially encourage women, rural, Indigenous and early-career journalists to apply.
