About EJN - Virtual Workshop for Thai Journalists Reporting on Business in the Transition to Net-zero in Thailand

The workshop is organized by the Earth Journalism Network in partnership with the Thai Journalist Club and Data Hatch.It is a four-day virtual training program designed to strengthen journalists’ ability to report on the role of businesses in Thailand’s transition to a low-carbon economy.

  • Gain a better understanding of the role of businesses in Thailand’s transition to net-zero emissions. 
  • Explore four main climate intervention that are increasingly used in Thailand: renewable energy, including electric vehicles, carbon credit markets, ESG due diligence and green financial products. 
  • Learn from case studies of investigations into these climate interventions by EJN-supported journalists and partner newsrooms in Thailand and other countries. 
  • Gain practical insights and reporting tools to develop stronger, evidence-based stories on the role of the private sector and the solutions they offer to support the transition to a low-carbon economy. 

Following the workshop, participants will be invited to pitch story ideas for a story grant award to support in-depth reporting on the role of businesses in addressing net-zero emissions.  

EJN - Virtual Workshop for Thai Journalists Reporting on Business in the Transition to Net-zero in Thailand Requirements

  • Applicants must be Thai national based in Thailand only.  
  • Applications are open to journalists from across Thailand working in any medium (online, print, television, radio) and from all types of media—community-based, local, national or international. We welcome applications from freelancers and staff journalists alike. We especially encourage women, rural, Indigenous and early or mid-career journalists to apply. 
  • For the purposes of this opportunity, we will only be accepting applications in English and Thai. Applicants must either have a working understanding of English or have a translator available to assist with communication with EJN staff. 
  • Applicants do not need prior experience in reporting on climate change, but should demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing this topic after the workshop. Journalists with a background in business, economics, finance or related fields are especially encouraged to apply. 
  • Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
