About EMAP Residency Programme

The European Media Art Platform residency was established with support from the European Union’s Creative Europe programme. It brings together artists working at the intersection of technology, science, media, and contemporary artistic practice.

The residency provides artists with the opportunity to spend two months at one of the EMAP host organisations. During this period, artists can develop their proposed projects within a professional institutional environment and make use of available technical resources and media laboratories.

The programme also creates opportunities for artists to connect with other practitioners, institutions, and professionals across the European media art ecosystem.

Benefits of EMAP Residency Programme

Selected artists receive support designed to cover key costs associated with developing and presenting their projects.

The residency package includes:

• A two-month production residency at an EMAP host organisation.
• A €4,000 grant for the applying artist.
• An additional €2,000 for collaborating artist(s), or €6,000 for an artists duo.
• A €4,000 project budget.
• Accommodation provided by the host organisation.
• Travel expenses covered according to applicable EU ceilings.
• Access to technical facilities and media labs.
• Professional opportunities to present or showcase developed work.
• Participation in the kick-off conference in Gijón, Spain.
• Potential exhibition tours and showcases with EMAP partners.

This combination of financial, technical, and institutional support allows artists to concentrate on developing ambitious collaborative projects.

EMAP Residency Programme Requirements

The programme is intended for artists who want to develop projects collaboratively within the European media art ecosystem.

Applicants must:

• Apply as a duo or collective, or propose a collaborative project.
• Be residents or taxpayers in an EU member state or an eligible non-EU country.
• Have an artistic practice relevant to digital, media, robotic, bio art, or related fields.
• Be able to develop the proposed project collaboratively.

The programme welcomes emerging artists and does not impose an age restriction on emerging artists.
