About European Union - Daphne Caruana Galizia Prize for Journalism
The Daphne Caruana Galizia Prize for Journalism (hereinafter, the Prize) was launched on 16 October 2020 as a tribute to the Maltese anti-corruption investigative journalist and blogger who was assassinated in a car bomb attack in 2017.The Prize, with the support of the European Parliament, will be awarded annually to in-depth journalism pieces undertaken by EU-based professional journalists.

The winner will benefit from the following items:
- An annual single prize of €20,000
- The European Parliament will cover the winner’s travel expenses to attend the Award Ceremony.
- The winner receives public recognition at a high-level ceremony in Strasbourg.

Who can apply for this Prize?
- Open to professional journalists or teams of any nationality
- Journalistic work must be published or broadcast by media based in the EU
- Entries must be published/broadcast between September 1, 2025, and July 31, 2026
- Entries can be submitted by authors themselves or by media organizations on their behalf
- Multiple entries allowed (must be submitted separately)
Application Date and Process
- Submit applications through the online platform by July 31, 2026, 12 PM (CEST)
- Entries may be in any official EU language, but must include a 500-word English summary.
- Separate application forms are required for multiple entries
