About First Nations Development Institute Native Food Security Grant
The 2026 Native Food Security Grant supports Native-controlled organizations in advancing food sovereignty, strengthening tribal food economies, and promoting sustainable relationships between community, place, and food. The program prioritizes Native leadership, culturally rooted practices, intergenerational knowledge, and equitable access to food systems.
Benefits of First Nations Development Institute Native Food Security Grant
- Funding: $10,000–$40,000 per project, with up to 12 grants awarded.
First Nations Development Institute Native Food Security Grant Requirements
Applicants must be Native-controlled organizations, defined as having a majority of Native American, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian leadership:
- Federal- and State-Recognized Tribal Governments and their programs
- Native-controlled 501(c)(3) nonprofits
- Native-controlled community organizations with fiscal sponsorship
- Native 7871 organizations
Non-Native organizations, even with fiscal sponsorship, are not eligible.
Application Date and Process
- All applicants must complete the First Nations online grant application, including submission of necessary attachments, no later than Tuesday, April 14, 2026, by 5 pm Mountain Time.
