About Formal Radiography Research Mentoring (FoRRM)

The College of Radiographers is committed to promoting and supporting research at every level of our profession.

The aim of the Formal Radiography Research Mentoring (FoRRM) scheme is to increase the capacity and quality of radiographers involved in research in the UK.  

This could mean enhancing and developing research skills, elevating the radiography research profile or working towards specific research outputs.  FoRRM may also help with personal development and/or career development.

In addition to attending pre-launch training and the launch event, both of which are mandatory, successful candidates will be expected to join the training and networking events throughout the course of the scheme.

Mandatory events

Before applying, you must ensure to attend the following mandatory events:

  • Tuesday, 4 November 2025 | 10:00-11:30 | Online pre-launch mentee training
  • Wednesday, 12 November 2025 | In-person launch event* at SoR | CoR HQ (London, SE1 2EW)

To attend the in-person event:

  • Travel expenses will be covered by the CoR. Any accommodation requests will be subject to approval by the Executive Director of Professional Policy.  
  • For those unable to travel, reasonable adjustments will be discussed with the project team.

Formal Radiography Research Mentoring (FoRRM) Requirements

  • SoR member based in the UK
  • Currently working within diagnostic imaging or therapeutic radiography, with at least 3 years clinical experience
  • Completed a Master’s level postgraduate degree – date of completion must precede the start date of the scheme (November 2025)
  • Not currently undertaking a PhD of ProfD qualification
  • Plan to work in a research capacity in radiography
