Opportunity Details
Global Justice Youth is a national collective of young people building international solidarity with social movements and struggles for justice, particularly in the global south. As our youth activism intern you will work closely with our activists to make sure that the network runs smoothly, developing campaign resources, communications and support mechanisms as required. You will also recruit new activists to the network and help to advise them on their activities.
This six-month internship is a great opportunity to develop your activist and organising skills in a professional setting while helping to ensure our youth network continues to thrive. You’ll work closely with the youth activism manager and the rest of the activism team, and we’ll give you the training and support you need as well as the space to take your own initiative.
They welcome applications from everyone irrespective of ethnicity, but as members of ethnic minority groups are currently under-represented in the organisation they would like to encourage applications from black and ethnic minority candidates. Appointment will be based on merit alone.
You will be part of, and learn about, the different elements of the work of Global Justice Now. Following an induction to Global Justice Now and the office, you will split your time to provide support for activities across their work.
As a youth activism intern you will work closely with their activists to make sure that the network runs smoothly, developing campaign resources, communications and support mechanisms as required. You will also recruit new activists to the network and help to advise them on their activities, sometimes travelling around the country to meet them.
Major youth activism projects during the six months of this internship will include recruitment of new activists at university freshers’ fairs, follow-up events at universities during October and November, and our national youth network conference in early February.
You will be given job-specific training in our systems and processes, and by the end of six months, you should have gained skills and experience in a range of campaigning, event organisation and administrative work and be able to work at the level of a campaigns or events assistant.
