Harvard Society of Fellows Scholarship Requirements
- Candidates must be at an early stage of their scholarly career
- Most recipients receive their Ph.D. shortly before the fellowship begins
- Candidates still pursuing their Ph.D. should be at the dissertation stage and plan to complete within a year of starting the fellowship
- Open to candidates of any nationality and field of study
- Candidates must be nominated by someone under whom they have studied; self-applications are not accepted

- A nomination letter must include an assessment of the candidate’s work and promise, contact information for the candidate and three additional referees, and the candidate’s current residential address and email
- After nomination, the Society will request letters of recommendation and work samples from referees and the candidate
