About Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy Grant
The Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy was established in 1997 by Irving Louis Horowitz and Mary E. Curtis Horowitz as a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization. Its general purpose is to support the advancement of research and understanding in major fields of the social sciences. Its specific purpose is to provide funding to aspiring PhDs in support of research that is innovative and addresses urgent social policy issues.
Benefits of Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy Grant
- Grant Value: $10,000 total ($7,500 initially, $2,500 upon completion)
- Second instalment awarded upon dissertation acceptance, peer‑reviewed article publication, or book chapter invitation

Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy Grant Requirements
- Be current PhD (or DrPH) candidates working on their dissertation
- Not yet hold a PhD
- Have defended their dissertation proposal or had their topic approved
- Be enrolled at any university worldwide (US citizenship/residency not required)
- Apply only once (new rule since 2023)
