About INEGI PhD Scholarship

The INEGI PhD Scholarship is a funded doctoral research opportunity in Porto, Portugal, focused on developing mesoscale models for fiber-reinforced polymers with microscopic defects under the HOOPLA project. The selected doctoral student will work on identifying key defects in fiber-reinforced composites, developing micromechanical and mesoscopic models, and documenting research results for technical and scientific purposes.

INEGI PhD Scholarship Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with finite element method for structural analysis
  • Proficient knowledge of Python or other programming languages
  • Knowledge of the mechanics of composite materials
  • Experience in characterization and modeling of composite materials
  • Experience writing technical reports, scientific reports, or project documentation
  • Initiative, sense of responsibility, organization, autonomy, resilience, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Critical analysis and goal orientation
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with ability to clearly explain technical concepts
  • Ability to present results to team members or mentors
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Portuguese and English, written and spoken
