About IUCEA - EAC Student Mobility Scholarship
The IUCEA EAC Student Mobility Scholarship is a fully funded regional programme that enables students from East African Community Partner States to study across borders at 28 partner universities. This scholarship covers tuition, travel, health insurance, and research costs for 197 slots at Diploma, Bachelor, Master’s, and PhD levels. The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) administers this cost-sharing scholarship in partnership with host universities and students. Host universities waive tuition and examination fees, while IUCEA covers travel, insurance, and research lump sums. Students or guardians handle accommodation and living expenses.

IUCEA - EAC Student Mobility Scholarship Requirements
- Be a national and resident of an EAC Partner State (national ID / passport / birth certificate required)
- Apply to an eligible programme at a university in a country other than your own
- Excellent academic performance per the host programme’s entry requirements
- Upper Second-Class Honours, Distinction or equivalent for Master’s and PhD applicants
- Age below 35 for Master’s; below 45 for PhD at the time of application
- Work experience is an added advantage for PhD applicants
