About IJP - Ernst Cramer & Teddy Kollek Fellowships for Israeli Journalists in Germany
This initiative is organized in cooperation with governmental institutions, foundations, and sponsors in both Germany and Israel. The fellowship is also open to German journalists seeking a two-month professional residency in Israel. Please note that the implementation of the program is subject to the security and political situation in the region at the time of the fellowship. The fellowship is part of the Middle East Fellowship of the IJP. The fellowships for journalists from Germany and Israel are named in honor of the late journalist Ernst Cramer and the former mayor of Jerusalem, Teddy Kollek, celebrating their lifelong dedication to strengthening German-Israeli relations.
Benefits of IJP - Ernst Cramer & Teddy Kollek Fellowships for Israeli Journalists in Germany
- Each fellow receives a grant of 5,000 Euro. This sum is intended to cover a significant portion of the travel costs, board and lodging expenses. Fellows are expected to contribute partially to their costs. Please note that there is no additional salary provided for the journalist’s work on location.
IJP - Ernst Cramer & Teddy Kollek Fellowships for Israeli Journalists in Germany Requirements
- The program is open to Israeli journalists, between the ages of 21 and 37, who work as regular employees, trainees or editors for Israeli or Arab media. At least two candidates from Germany and two from Israel will be selected.
Application Date and Process
- Applications, for which there is no special form required, are to be submitted by June 15th, 2026. The application should include a detailed CV with a passport photo, a letter of motivation, and a journalistic appraisal written by the head of department or editor-in-chief. The appraisal letter should support the application, guarantee temporary leave of absence for the duration of the program, and serve as evidence of journalistic experience. Samples of previous work may be enclosed.
