About ILC Global Education Program

Opportunity Details

ILC is a global educational program that empowers students to explore the scientific study of language, challenge their analytical thinking, and discover patterns in human communication through linguistic problem-solving.

Benefits of ILC Global Education Program

Showcase your linguistic abilities and compete for cash prizes, certificates, and global recognition. The prizes are worth upwards of 1000 USD. Awards include:

  • 1st, 2nd, 3rd Cash Prizes for each age category.
  • National Awards for top performers from each country.
  • Bronze, Silver, and Gold Honours for Finalists.
  • Official Participation Certificates for all participants.

Points are awarded for correct reasoning steps, not just final answers. They want to see your analytical process!

ILC Global Education Program Requirements

Middle school, high school, and university students of all grades and from all countries are invited to participate. Anyone interested in language, pattern recognition, and problem-solving is welcome. No prior linguistic training is needed to participate!

We have three age categories:

  • Junior: 10th Grade and below (and < 16 years)
  • Youth: 11th to 13th Grade (or ≥ 16 years)
  • Senior: 1st Year College/University and higher (or ≥ 19 years)

All participants receive the same set of problems covering syntax, semantics, pragmatics, phonetics, morphology, and discourse analysis, but the points needed to successfully complete a round differ between groups.

Application Date and Process

  • Please submit your solution to the Qualification Round problem sheet via the official submission form. Pay attention to the following key points:

  • You must submit a single document that provides written solution for all problems.
  • You may submit handwritten or typed solutions (e.g., using TeX).
  • Clearly explain your reasoning, pattern identification process, and linguistic analysis for problems when appropriate.
  • Key tip for solving the problems: language is compositional. It is composed of units and sub-units, whose behaviour individually and together obeys the rules of the given language.

Application Deadline

30 December, 2025
