The Kone Foundation For the Woods Grant Program provides funding for individuals, working groups, and organizations undertaking research and artistic projects connected to Finland. The programme supports work across environmental science, humanities, societal-environmental research, and a broad range of artistic disciplines. The grant programme welcomes applications from diverse applicants and encourages participation regardless of age, gender, or cultural background. Funding can support project work, personal grants, travel, salaries, materials, and other eligible expenses when properly included in the project budget.
Grants cover research, artistic work, or societal activity.
Duration: up to 4 years for research/art organisations, 3 years for individuals/groups.
Funding amounts:
Research groups: typically €200,000–€500,000.
Artistic groups/organisations: up to €250,000.
Personal monthly grants:
Early career: €2,700/month
Mid-career: €3,200/month
Late career: €3,800/month
Eligible applicants include:
Applicants can be Finnish or non-Finnish citizens, provided they meet the programme’s requirements concerning the connection of their project to Finland.
