About Kroc Institute Visiting Research Fellowship
Kroc Institute Visiting Research Fellowship brings visiting research fellows focused on peace research to the University of Notre Dame for a semester or a full academic year and provides financial and research support to complete a focused research project. The Kroc Visiting Research Fellows Program supports scholars whose work links to the Institute’s research initiatives and thematic priorities.
Benefits of Kroc Institute Visiting Research Fellowship
- Visiting fellows will receive a stipend of $30,000 per semester.
- Housing is provided in furnished Institute apartments at no cost.
- Fellows have library and internet access and document retrieval services.
- Fellowships begin at the start of Notre Dame’s semester (August or January) and can run for one semester or an academic year.
Kroc Institute Visiting Research Fellowship Requirements
- Applicants must have completed a doctoral, or equivalent, degree.
- If currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program, applicants must have completed the doctoral degree before the beginning of the fellowship.
- If you have previously been a Kroc Visiting Research Fellow, please wait seven years before applying again.
Application Date and Process

- Submit a cover letter (no longer than 2 pages) indicating whether you are applying for one semester or two and identifying the field.
- Submit a research project proposal (maximum 10 pages double-spaced, including bibliography) describing sources, methodology, timetable, and expected products.
- Provide an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae.
- Request two confidential letters of recommendation to be submitted using the Interfolio system.
