Opportunity Details
The Language Vitality Program is an inspiring initiative that supports the revitalization and sustainability of First Nations languages across British Columbia. It recognizes the diversity of Indigenous languages and honours the fact that every First Nation has its own unique path toward language renewal. Each community designs and delivers programs that reflect its specific needs, strengths, and cultural priorities, ensuring that language revitalization efforts remain deeply rooted in local identity and tradition.
There are four funding levels, each reflecting different stages of language revitalization:

| Rise | Up to $50,000 for 1 year | For small teams starting out or with limited capacity. |
| Roots | Up to $120,000/year for 2 years | For experienced teams expanding into new areas. |
| Grow | Up to $200,000/year for 2 years | For teams developing strategic language plans. |
| Flourish | Up to $300,000/year for 3 years | For well-established teams implementing multiple strategies. |
Applicants must be based in B.C. and include:
First Nations governments, bands, tribal councils
Not-for-profit societies with 65% First Nations board members
Urban/off-reserve First Nations organizations
First Nations-led museums, cultural spaces, schools, and adult education centres
