About Leibniz Institute for Educational Media - Georg Arnhold Senior Fellowship
The Georg Arnhold Program seeks to strengthen the connection between theory and practice in peace education. It also promotes decolonial approaches to peace education research and practice and supports the dissemination of research findings and practical experiences through open-access publishing.
The fellowship focuses particularly on educational media and curricula used at the secondary-school level, although applicants may address relevant educational media in different forms and geographical contexts.

- Use of the GEI’s international library of educational media (such as school textbooks, curricula and digital educational resources for schools) as a resource center, and the opportunity to explore the role textbooks and other educational media play in processes of peace and reconciliation but also in exacerbating inequities and conflict.
- Mentoring by/discussions with GEI experts and the opportunity to present at GEI research colloquia.
- Use of “The Basement” (experimental digital media lab at GEI with focus on games learning, VR, robotics, creative pedagogies, etc.) for own research.
- Access to a broad network of scholars and practitioners working at the cross-section of peace education and educational media research.
- Open Access fees for direct project outputs will be covered where possible.
Leibniz Institute for Educational Media - Georg Arnhold Senior Fellowship Requirements
- Applications are welcomed from outstanding scholars in the humanities, political and social sciences or education, with a project firmly located in the field of peace education.
- They also welcome applications from distinguished practitioners in the field of peace education with high-level international experience, for example in NGO management.
- Scholarly applicants are required to hold a PhD and practitioner applicants are required to demonstrate at least five years of advanced professional achievement in their field. Pracademics should combine scholarly excellence with hands-on practice and grassroots work.
