Research training pathway scholarships
Macquarie's unique research training pathway includes the Graduate Diploma of Research, MRes and the PhD. Dedicated scholarships are available to support students progressing through the pathway.
1. Graduate Diploma of Research scholarship
The Graduate Diploma of Research scholarship, valued at $5000 per session, is awarded to high-performing domestic and international students who meet the eligibility criteria below.

Note: Eligibility for the scholarship in each session is confirmed 1–2 weeks after the session census date. Successful students are notified by the Graduate Research Academy via email.
2. Graduate Diploma of Research progressing to MRes scholarship
Eligible domestic and international students progressing from the Graduate Diploma of Research to the Master of Research will be considered for a tuition fee offset and stipend scholarship to the value of $38,500 per annum in 2025, indexed annually.

Scholarships may include one or more of the following:
Domestic students who are offered entry to an MRes or PhD will have the cost of their tuition fees covered by the Australian Government’s Research Training Program (RTP) Fees Offset Scholarship. This scholarship is administered by individual universities on behalf of the Department of Education.
Macquarie University assesses and ranks applicants based primarily on academic merit and research experience. Alignment of the proposed research topic with the University’s research priorities and the strength of the supervisory team may also be considered.
