About Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology Dissertation Writing-up Fellowships

The Law & Anthropology Department is providing positions for Dissertation Writing-up Fellowships.

Benefits of Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology Dissertation Writing-up Fellowships

  • The grants will be awarded for a period of maximum 4 months. The Institute provides successful candidates with a monthly living stipend that is not taxable and is free of social security obligations.

Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology Dissertation Writing-up Fellowships Requirements

  • Open to doctoral candidates within the ultimate stage of their programme. Priority can be given to candidates working in direction of PhDs in anthropology. 
  • The Max Planck Society strives to make sure gender equality and variety.

Application Date and Process

Applicants are asked to submit the following materials:

  • cover letter;
  • curriculum vitae;
  • writing sample (chapter of the PhD dissertation);
  • 1–2-page summary of the PhD work;
  • photocopies of university degrees and transcripts;
  • a letter of recommendation from the principal supervisor confirming that the applicant is advanced enough to finalize the doctoral manuscript within the period financed by the Law & Anthropology Department (to be sent directly to the Department at: [email protected])
