About MMoCRA Project Africa Scholarships

MMoCRA, the Multidisciplinary Mobility for a Climate Resilient Africa, is an EU-funded Intra-Africa Academic Mobility project coordinated by Busitema University. The consortium includes Kyambogo University, Strathmore University, Namibia University of Science and Technology, University of Cape Town, and the University of Twente. It aims to strengthen education, research, and practical skills for climate-resilient development across the continent.

  • Monthly stipend: €890 for Master’s students, €1,230 for doctoral candidates and trainees, €2,370 for staff

MMoCRA Project Africa Scholarships Requirements

  • Must be an eligible African national and reside in an African country at the time of application
  • Host country must differ from your country of nationality and residence
  • For Target Group 1: study at, hold admission from, or have earned a degree from one of the five African consortium universities
  • For Target Group 2: study at, hold admission from, or have earned a degree from any other higher education institution in Africa
  • Trainees must be enrolled in a bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD programme at one of the five African partner universities and be hosted by an eligible organisation in Uganda, Kenya, Namibia, or South Africa
  • Staff must be employed (academic, administrative, or technical) at one of the six consortium institutions, including University of Twente
  • Cannot have previously received a scholarship under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme 2022–2027
  • Cannot hold another EU-funded scholarship for the same activity during the MMoCRA mobility

Application Date and Process

  • Confirm your category: check target group, institution, nationality, residence, mobility type, and previous EU scholarship history. Review the official application guidelines.
  • Select one host institution that matches your academic background, intended programme, language, and research interests.
  • Prepare a detailed mobility plan outlining activities, timeline, expected outputs, skills development, and contribution to climate resilience.
  • Collect institutional evidence: admission or enrolment letter, supervisor or departmental letter, and any required language proof.
  • Apply online in English through the MMoCRA portal. Attach all required documents (CV, passport/ID, transcripts, recommendation letters, motivation letter, research/study/traineeship plan, etc.). No email, post, or fax applications are accepted.
