About Northern Territory Government - Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Research Grants
The Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) Research Grants for 2026 offers funding for research projects aimed at improving the understanding and response to domestic, family, and sexual violence in the Northern Territory (NT). These grants are part of the NT Government's commitment to building research capacity and align with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) Research Agenda 2025-2029. The grants support projects that can inform policy and practice, contributing to a stronger evidence base for effective policies and programs for children and families in the NT.
Benefits of Northern Territory Government - Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Research Grants
- The Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) Research Grants have a total of $200,000 available in 2025-26 through National Partnership Agreement funding for research projects for up to two years starting 1 July 2026.
Please note that research teams may submit proposals that vary from these suggested parameters:
- Small projects: 6 months to 1 year. Budget: <$50,000
- Medium projects: 1 to 1.5 years. Budget: $150,000 to $200,000. Methodology: mixed methods evaluation with existing quantitative data source.
- Large projects: Time frame: 2 years. Budget: $200,000. Methodology: multi-strand study or randomised controlled trial
Northern Territory Government - Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Research Grants Requirements
Funding is available to individuals and organisations.
To be eligible for funding an individual must
- reside in the NT for the duration of funded activity
Types of individiuals that are eligible to apply for funding include
- Any NT-based individual with the capacity to undertake research is eligible
To be eligible for funding an organisation must
- be physically located and actively operating in the NT
Types of organisations that are eligible for funding include
- Any NT-based organisation with the capacity to undertake research is eligible
