The Snowy Mountains Aboriginal Product Development Program is designed to build the capability and capacity of Aboriginal businesses in alignment with the Snowy Mountains Special Activation Precinct Master Plan. The initiative supports culturally strong, place-based, Aboriginal-led economic development and promotes participation in the visitor economy.

Benefits of NSW Government Snowy Mountains Aboriginal Product Development Program

  • Total funding pool: $500,000

  • Small-scale grants: $5,000–$25,000

  • Larger grants: $25,001–$150,000

  • Multiple proposals are allowed if each delivers distinct benefits to the Snowy Precinct, its economy, and local employment

NSW Government Snowy Mountains Aboriginal Product Development Program Requirements

Eligible applicants include:

  • Individuals or organisations based in or delivering services within the Snowy Precinct or its supporting region

  • Registered Local Aboriginal Land Councils, NSW Aboriginal Land Councils, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Corporations, or businesses with at least 50% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ownership or governance operating for community benefit

  • Applicants must hold an ABN, demonstrate financial viability, and secure public liability insurance of at least $20 million before entering a funding deed

Application Date and Process

  • Ensure your organisation or business meets eligibility criteria

  • Develop a project aligned with the Master Plan and program objectives

  • Prepare a budget and project plan demonstrating economic, social, cultural, and employment outcomes

  • Provide proof of ABN, financial viability, and secure public liability insurance

  • Submit the application through the designated portal by the specified deadline
