Opportunity Details
The Leaders Europe Program, launched by the Barack Obama Foundation, equips emerging leaders with the skills, networks, and tools to create meaningful impact in their communities across Europe and globally. The program emphasizes values-driven leadership, inclusive decision-making, and adaptive strategies to tackle pressing societal challenges.
The program strengthens Europe’s next generation of leaders by:
• Developing skills for collaborative and inclusive leadership
• Enhancing capacity to address complex societal and civic challenges
• Providing a platform for peer learning and networking across sectors
• Supporting values-based leadership that contributes to democratic resilience
• Preparing leaders to scale solutions and create lasting community impact
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Age: 24–45 years old as of September 1, 2026
• Experience: Minimum three years of leadership in government, civil society, private sector, or community-based initiatives
• Residency/Citizenship: Reside in one of the 46 Council of Europe member states or Kosovo; eligible as a citizen, permanent resident, refugee, asylum seeker, or have lived in the country for at least five years
• Language: Professionally proficient in English
• Restrictions: Cannot run as a candidate in electoral campaigns during program participation; no legal or regulatory restrictions preventing virtual participation or potential travel to the U.S.
Eligible work should be geographically focused on improving local communities, national initiatives, or the broader European region and demonstrate sustained commitment to positive impact.
