The grants support UK - Viet Nam higher education partnerships for innovation, science and technology as pathway to excellence.

Three main groups of prioritised areas include:
• group 1: advanced manufacturing, digital and technology
• group 2: clean energy
• group 3: life sciences (advanced biomedical and biopharmaceutical technology)
Funding is available for an expected total of six (06) projects, each with a value of up to £10,000.
About the grants
The UK-Viet Nam iTechPath grant support projects that address the following objectives:
• Develop Talent programmes in key areas: to enable UK-Viet Nam partnerships that support Vietnamese universities to develop Talent programmes in both undergraduate and postgraduate including joint PhD, building on UK best practices, to support human resources development in these areas in Viet Nam
• Facilitate joint research, mobility and exchange: to provide a platform for UK and Vietnamese universities and businesses to deliver joint research, staff and researcher mobility and short-term exchange, and transnational education programme development in these subject areas
· Establish sustainable partnerships: to enable sustainable UK-Viet Nam partnerships that supports the expansion of Talent programmes to wider Vietnamese universities, and that contributes to positioning Vietnamese universities in the region in providing quality programmes towards international standards, which can be attractive to student mobility in the region and as an innovative centre to facilitate research collaboration and industry engagement.
Types of projects
Projects can be in one of the mentioned discipline or cross-discipline. They should respond to both countries' needs and meet the criteria as specified in the Guidance Notes document.
The UK-Viet Nam iTechPath grant could support partnerships that aim to (not exhaustive) achieve the following outcomes:
• establishment of a UK-VN Higher Education Consortium who have shared vision and interest in setting up Talent programmes in identified areas
• provision of seed fund/grants for UK-Viet Nam higher education partnerships with expected joint funding from UK/VN universities and businesses to set up the Talent programmes including the programme/curriculum development, staff mobility and exchange
• joint workshops and seminars on innovation and research (for staff, students, leaders/managers); government – university - industry partnerships and policy implication; industry’s CSR and investment into joint research with higher education institutions.
• establishment of Talent programmes as a platform that supports human resource development for Viet Nam in the short run, and further expansion of the model to wider higher education in Viet Nam in the longer run.

In general, lead institutions must be higher education institutions in the UK with degree awarding powers in their own right. Vietnamese universities should be one of the universities having confirmed their expressions of interest in participatng in the UK-Viet Nam iTechPath.

The online application can only be started and submitted by the lead UK institution. Once started by the lead UK institution, the form can be shared with partner institutions to contribute to. Any application started by a non-UK institution will be automatically ineligible.
