Successful researchers receive:

• R1.5 million per year
• Five-year award period
• Total potential support of R7.5 million

The five-year structure provides researchers with a longer period to establish and develop a high-performing research programme rather than relying on short-term project funding.

Oppenheimer Memorial Trust - New Frontiers Research Award Requirements

Applicants must:

• Hold a PhD or equivalent qualification.
• Have relevant postdoctoral research experience.
• Demonstrate a proven research track record.
• Have research leadership experience.
• Demonstrate a commitment to collaboration.
• Present a strong and forward-looking research vision.
• Be able to conduct the proposed research at a recognised research institution in South Africa.
