Opportunity Details
Calgarians deserve safe, interactive, and fun spaces to play and gather. Community green spaces provide us with opportunities to stay active, learn, and build connections. Parks Foundation Calgary exists so we can all enjoy a healthy lifestyle. The Building Communities Grant Program was created with a vision to support community-led park projects; together we continue to meet the needs of local communities.
Maximum grant: $50,000 per project
Eligible costs: Capital expenses for parks, playgrounds, outdoor classrooms, and community hubs
Funding encourages community-led initiatives that enhance Calgary’s public outdoor spaces
Registered non-profit societies with a Certificate of Incorporation
Schools, parent associations, community associations, and similar organizations
Organizations must have objectives aligned with:
Parks and outdoor spaces
Active communities
Childhood wellbeing
Must be located within Calgary municipal boundaries
The program encourages diverse groups to apply, ensuring inclusive community representation.
Eligible Projects
Examples of projects supported include:
Traditional playgrounds
Fitness parks
Natural playgrounds
Park revitalization initiatives
Outdoor classrooms
Community hubs
Note: Community garden projects are not eligible.

Submit an application to the Project Support Program as a prerequisite.
Prepare a detailed project proposal including:
Project description and goals
Capital budget and funding plan
Community engagement strategy
Submit the application to Parks Foundation Calgary by the deadline.
