About Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Vigdís Prize for Women's Empowerment
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Vigdís Prize for Women’s Empowerment 2026 named after Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, the world’s first democratically elected female Head of State (Iceland, 1980). Established in 2023 by PACE in partnership with the Government of Iceland,recognizes outstanding contributions to women’s empowerment and gender equality.

- This annual Prize consists of a sum of 60,000 and a trophy.
Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Vigdís Prize for Women's Empowerment Requirements
- Individuals, civil society groups, including national or international non-governmental organizations,associations and private companies may be nominated for the prize.
- Current members of the Parliamentary Assembly and deceased individuals will not be eligible.
- Nominations should be submitted in English or French and must be supported by the signatures of at least five sponsors.
