About Pro Helvetia - Research Trip to the Arab Region

The Pro Helvetia Research Trip is an international mobility programme that enables Swiss artists and cultural practitioners to expand their creative practice through research and professional exchange abroad.Rather than supporting the production of a finished artistic project, the programme focuses on creative exploration, artistic research, networking, and long-term collaboration. Participants are encouraged to immerse themselves in the local cultural environment, engage with artists and cultural organisations, and build relationships that may lead to future collaborative projects. The programme strengthens cultural dialogue between Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates, encouraging knowledge sharing and international artistic cooperation.

Benefits of Pro Helvetia - Research Trip to the Arab Region

• Coach: a cultural professional from the local artistic field, facilitating networking and exchange
• In addition, artists and cultural practitioners with childcare responsibilities can apply for financial support of up to CHF 1,000 per month as a contribution to childcare or for the travel expenses of their children and, if necessary, a carer. This also applies if the child/children stay at home and are cared for. Applicants must present a budget of all expenses in advance.

Pro Helvetia - Research Trip to the Arab Region Requirements

The programme is open to cultural practitioners from Switzerland working across disciplines supported by Pro Helvetia.

Eligible applicants include:

• Individual artists and cultural practitioners.
• Artist duos.

Applicants must be professionally active in one or more artistic disciplines supported by Pro Helvetia.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for funding, applicants must ensure that their proposed project:

• Has a clear connection to Switzerland.
• Is of nationwide importance.
• Is adequately co-funded through public or private sources.
• Respects and guarantees fair working conditions.
• Focuses on artistic research and professional exchange.
• Can be completed within two to four weeks.
