About Pulitzer Center - Africa Education Teachers’ Fellowship Program

The Africa Education Teachers' Fellowship is a six-month hybrid professional development program designed to equip teachers with practical skills to integrate journalism into classroom teaching to strengthen critical thinking, literacy, civic engagement, climate awareness, and ethical media consumption.The Fellowship combines virtual learning, classroom implementation, peer learning, and action research, culminating in teachers joining a growing continental network of innovative educators.

Selected teachers will receive professional development support and opportunities to build expertise in journalism-based education.

Pulitzer Center - Africa Education Teachers’ Fellowship Program Requirements

The Pulitzer Center Africa Education Teachers’ Fellowship 2026 is open to active primary and secondary school teachers from the following countries:

  • Cameroon
  • Democratic Republic of Congo
  • Ethiopia
  • Ghana
  • Nigeria
  • Uganda
  • Zambia
  • Burkina Faso

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be currently working as a primary or secondary school teacher.
  • Have an interest in journalism, literacy, media education, or climate and environmental education.
  • Commit to participating in the complete six-month fellowship.
  • Apply journalism-based teaching methods in their classrooms.
  • Provide a support letter from their school leadership.
